Discussions and Visible Thinking Activities

Communication is an important element of this course and one of the curricular competencies we will be developing in our discussions. To see a list of discussions and assessment criteria, visit the Assessment page. We will be sharing ideas and making our thinking visible using a variety of online apps. Here is a general list of applications you can expect to use in this course:

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as “the representation of another author‘s language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one’s own original work. In educational contexts, there are differing definitions of plagiarism depending on the institution. Plagiarism is considered a violation of academic integrity and a breach of journalistic ethics. It is subject to sanctions such as penalties, suspension, expulsion from school or work, substantial fines and even imprisonment” (wikipedia.org/wiki/plagiarism).

It is important that the work you submit is your own, since it is part of your learning. Cheating of any sort in this course will not be tolerated. All submissions that share the ideas, words or images of another perons’work without crediting the source will result in an alternative assessment. All major projects and essays will be submitted for an originality check online.
